Why Install MocroDarija on Your iPhone

MocroDarija works as a "web app" — you can add it to your Home Screen so it opens full-screen, just like a regular app, without needing the App Store. It loads faster, feels more like a native app, and keeps your streak one tap away.

There's no download, no App Store account needed, and no extra storage taken up beyond a small cache.

Step-by-Step: Add to Home Screen

Important: this only works in Safari. Even if you have Chrome or Firefox installed on your iPhone, they're not able to add apps to your Home Screen — that's an Apple restriction, not a MocroDarija limitation. Every browser on iOS runs on Apple's engine under the hood, and only Safari has this specific feature enabled.

  1. Open mocrodarija.com in Safari.
  2. Tap the Share icon — the square with an arrow pointing up, in the bottom toolbar (or top of the address bar on newer iPhones).
  3. Scroll down the share menu and tap "Add to Home Screen."
  4. You'll see a preview with the MocroDarija icon and name. Tap "Add" in the top-right corner.
  5. That's it — a MocroDarija icon now appears on your Home Screen. Tap it any time to open the app full-screen, without Safari's address bar or tabs.

A Few Honest Things to Know

  • No automatic install pop-up. Unlike Android, iOS never shows a banner asking "install this app?" — that's why it's a manual, one-time Share menu step. This is normal, not a bug.
  • Notifications: Streak reminder notifications require iOS 16.4 or later, and the app must already be installed to your Home Screen first — they don't work from a regular Safari tab. Due to an Apple restriction, push notifications currently don't work for iOS users located in the EU, regardless of app version.
  • Updates happen automatically. You don't need to reinstall — the app updates itself in the background whenever you open it.

Troubleshooting

I don't see "Add to Home Screen" in the menu. Make sure you're using Safari, not another browser — the option only appears there. Also make sure you've scrolled down far enough in the share sheet; it's usually a few rows down, not at the very top.

The icon looks like a plain webpage, not an app icon. Try removing it from your Home Screen and repeating the steps above — this usually means the page hadn't fully finished loading when you tapped Share.

I'm on an old iPhone and nothing works. Make sure your iOS version is up to date. Go to Settings → General → Software Update.

That's the whole process — under a minute, and you'll have MocroDarija sitting on your Home Screen like any other app.
